Job Title: Design Systems Engineer
Reports to: Section Manager
Purpose of the job:
To support CAD and data management systems users and to maintain the hardware/software within the Engineering department
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support and maintenance of CAD and data management systems within the Design Office and other Engineering systems as required
Implementation of CAD and data management system upgrades
Primary interface with the company’s Systems department and external hardware/software consultants
Provide/arrange CAD and data management user training
Responsible for internal/external CAD data exchange
Responsible for customer Engineering Systems requirements
Assist in Continuous Improvements for the Engineering department processes and activities
Responsible for ensuring that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained
To support team members with other tasks as and when necessary
To help create and maintain a safe working environment and observe the published Health and Safety procedures
To carry out any other tasks where reasonable and relevant, when required
Person Specification:
Mechanical design engineering - 3-5 years is essential
CATIA V5 2-3 years/SmarTeam 2-3 years/CAD Administration 1-2 years is essential
Experience of CATIA V5/SmarTeam Administration/IT Applications support/software and hardware problem resolution is desirable
HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering is essential
The company would desire someone who has a degree qualified Certified CATIA V5/SmarTeam administrator with knowledge of CATIA V4 and Pro Engineer
Installation/Upgrades of CATIA V5/SmarTEam with good communication skills (both written and spoken) is essential
CATIA V5 Surfacing SmarTeam Scripting/SmarTeam Basic Script and Basic UNIX Skills will be desired by the company
It is essential to have good problem solving skills and an ability to form a link between Engineering and Manufacturing
